Nestled in the heart of West Hempstead, Witches Brew Coffee House offers a uniquely enchanting experience that effortlessly blends the warmth of a neighborhood café with the vibrant spirit of a vegan and vegetarian restaurant. This cozy, dimly lit haven is more than just a coffee shop — it’s a sanctuary for food lovers seeking creative plant-based dishes complemented by expertly crafted beverages.
The menu at Witches Brew is a delightful exploration of comfort food with a twist, showcasing vegan and vegetarian cuisine that even carnivores rave about. Diners frequently praise the vegan fried chicken sandwich, a crispy, flavorful alternative that won over even the most devoted fried chicken fans. The 6 cheese Mac & Cheese is a decadent indulgence, perfectly cheesy and satisfying—an absolute must-try for any late-night snack craving. For those who prefer lighter fare, options like Buffalo Cauliflower and Vegetable Spring Rolls deliver a fresh, vibrant bite packed with texture and flavor.
The restaurant’s dedication to seasonal ingredients shines through dishes like the Butternut Squash & Sage Butter Gnocchi, where roasted squash mingles with comforting sage butter and the satisfying chew of handmade gnocchi, crowned with toasted pumpkin seeds. Fans of creamy classics will be delighted by the Trofie Alfredo & Mushroom, a luscious, earthy pasta bathed in rich alfredo sauce and dusted with parmesan, while the Pesto or Tomato Gnocchi offers an herbaceous or tangy alternative that manages to feel both indulgent and light.
When it comes to dessert, Witches Brew continues to impress with decadent options such as the Oreo Cheesecake, Cinnamon Rolls, and the exquisite Crème Brûlée. The coffee menu is equally tempting, featuring signature drinks like the intriguingly named Voodoo Cappuccino and refreshingly smooth iced coffees that have garnered enthusiastic praise. Vegan desserts, including moist vegan cakes, provide a sweet finish that accommodates all dietary preferences.
Step inside, and you’ll be embraced by the café’s warm, moody ambiance — dark décor with cozy couches and carefully curated “spooky” vibes that feel perfect for both a tranquil solo visit or an intimate date night. The inviting atmosphere, paired with attentive friendly service, makes each visit feel like a small escape from the everyday hustle.
Several patrons have shared their fondness for Witches Brew’s distinct charm. Kris Alva highlights the “cozy little vibe” and praises the wide coffee selection, while Ava Ange appreciates how the place satisfies both vegan and non-vegan palates alike. Loyal visitor Cindy Benitez calls it her go-to spot, applauding its commitment to seasonal menu changes and variety, and Alisha B loves the innovative drinks — especially the “revolution drink” — alongside the restaurant’s refreshing culinary approach. Customers also note the importance of coming prepared with cash, hinting at an old-school touch that enhances the café’s neighborhood feel.
Witches Brew Coffee House is more than a meal stop; it’s an immersive cozy retreat where thoughtful vegan cuisine meets warm ambiance and eclectic charm. Whether you’re craving a comforting mac & cheese, a bold coffee concoction, or a luscious slice of tiramisu, this enchanting spot promises a satisfying and memorable experience.
Went over for a late night adventure and snack and was totally worth it. Such a great atmosphere and aesthetic. It has such a cozy little vibe and I just love the interior design. The coffee drink was super sweet a flavor and they have so many different options to choose from, it was had to decide. We decided on getting the 6 cheese Mac n cheese as our late night snack and it was worth, so delicious. Definitely looking forward on coming back and trying more menu items. Just be mindful they’re cash only.
Amazing food, even my boyfriend who isnt vegan/vegetarian, loved his food. He loves fried chicken normally but wouldnt stop raving about how good the vegan fried chicken sandwich was. Im fully vegan and I got the coconut curry as well as trying his sandwich and both were exceptionally good. Fries were so so good too. The coffee is VERY good. As a vegan its hard to find good coffee but this place offeres many syrup options as well as vegan whipped cream and alternative milks. I got hazelnut vanilla and maple syrups oatmilk latte and it was so good and rich and smooth, not too sweet but definitely not bitter. My boyfriend got the French vanilla and marshmallow syrups with oatmilk and vegan whipped cream and said its the best whipped cream hes ever tried, again hes not vegan and a big sweet lover. Also our waitress was so kind and helpful when answering my questions. Staff seems happy and welcoming despite being insanely busy. Will definitely be coming back every time im in town. 10/10 restruant.
not ashamed of the amount of times i come here, it’s my go to spot. i love that they change the menu every few months based on what’s in season, until i love something so much and they don’t have it . it’s crazy that they say they are vegan cause you would’ve fooled me but i love variety and man do they have options! the coffee the tea the pastries the food and the atmosphere really do make this place what it is . the service is always so welcoming and friendly. the decor is what got me as soon as i walked in the first time, whimsical goth laid back and cozy . i couldn’t find all the pictures ive taken of my times there but there will be more to come !
Been coming here for a while, they do change up the menu from time to time. Food is great and vegan options. The best drink to get here is the revolution drink guys, you won’t regret. This place is expensive and they do add in the tip. Food is great and refreshing. Dark theme inside. Spooky vibes in a good way. Cozy couches. There isn’t parking so need to find that. Overall great food and great atmosphere. Servers can be a little rude with attitude.
Adorable and cozy vibes here. Surprisingly a good amount of options for food and coffee. Beautifully dim lit, great for a date night or an intimate time with friends. You can tell it’s a neighborhood spot. Decor was beautiful. Perfect for the fall. Food was decent, vegan only. CHAI FREEZE WAS AMAZING. Service was pretty good, the staff are straightforward. CASH ONLY. ‼JOIN THE WAITLIST BEFORE COMING‼
My daughter and I went on a Saturday without a reservation. If you are more than two people DEFINITELY make a reservation! We got very lucky as the hostess was so helpful. We received a table outside in less than five minutes. The atmosphere is exactly what we were hoping for. The servers were all so happy and helpful. Everything came out quickly and was very yummy! Will or sure be going back again!
VIBES I've been going to the Witches Brew since about 2008 and it's still one of my favorite cozy spots. The decor is spooky and a little eclectic. While during the day you can see the fun mixed and matched vintage furniture, at night their warm string lights make for the coziest ambiance. It's especially perfect during the Halloween season. One thing that I noticed from our most recent visit on a Friday evening is there were a good amount of families with kids and even babies. It might be quieter to go at a different time like I have in the past. Funny enough, it's probably all the people like me who used to come here in our high school days. SERVICE They get super busy and have implemented a virtual waiting list system that you can find via a link on their Instagram. It'll notify you when you're next and gives you 10 minutes to get back there. Honestly, easy nicer than waiting in a line outside in the cold! They've also always had super nice servers that regardless of time have the same friendly chill vibes. FOOD My favorite thing to get here is one of their special coffee flavors. They have a huge assortment with fun spooky names. I love picking one with a marshmallow flavor base. Might be called Midnight. They also have a huge adjustment of loose leaf teas that they serve in cast iron tea pots. These drinks pair perfectly with their desserts. My favorite things to get from them is a warm cinnamon bun a la mode. For their savory food it should be noted that the whole menu is vegetarian/vegan friendly. Something we ALWAYS get is their focaccia which is warm and cheesy. Their artichoke dip with nachos is excellent and my husband enjoyed his falafel sandwich with fries.
What a unique and magical place! The location is absolutely beautiful and so thoughtfully designed. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it’s a fully vegan spot with such an impressive variety of drinks and food options. We tried the Pesto Gnocchi, Smokey Tea, and Mocha Coffee — everything was delicious! The brownie cheesecake was mouthwatering and a must-try. The only downsides were the long wait time and the reservation process, even on a Friday afternoon.. Also, I felt the service could be a bit more attentive. Also, the automatic 20% gratuity for a party of two was unexpected. That said, the ambience was absolutely amazing — cozy, creative, and full of character. Totally worth the visit, and I can’t wait to go back!
